It’s been a productive few months for our commercial team as we work on four major developments to deliver state-of-the-art facilities, providing much-needed industrial space and job opportunities.
Developer Robert Hitchins Ltd has obtained reserved matters planning approval to build two new units at its Stroudwater 13 scheme adjoining Stroudwater Business Park, receiving unanimous backing from Stroud District councillors. The units will be 54,000 sq ft and 22,000 sq ft with potential to provide hundreds of new jobs. The state-of-the-art buildings can be used for industrial, manufacturing or warehouse facilities in an area that has lacked recent commercial development.
We have worked extensively with Robert Hitchins, including many previous projects on the Stroudwater and Stonehouse Business Parks. We look forward to helping them deliver the new units.
St. Modwen Park, Newport is also seeing expansion with four new industrial units under way. Glencar Construction has been appointed to construct the buildings which range from 16,558 sq ft to 43,487 sq ft. We worked with St. Modwen to design the units, which meet their ‘Swan Standard’, an accreditation that focuses on sustainability, net carbon reduction, and health and wellbeing. We included photovoltaic solar systems and hybrid air source heat pumps in our design, helping each unit achieve EPC A and BREEAM ‘Very Good’.
We are also working with St. Modwen on an exciting project in Gloucester: a 167,000 sq ft warehouse for leading kitchenware brand ProCook. The brand experienced 30% growth in 2020-2021, and their new warehouse will house their head office, warehouse operations, product development space, and a photography studio. ProCook’s facility has also been designed to ‘Swan Standard’ with sustainable features such as electric vehicle charging points and rainwater harvesting, as well as exercise spaces to boost employee wellbeing. Our design will achieve EPC A and BREEAM ‘Excellent’.
The Renishaw Miskin site is set to expand its buildings and infrastructure, due to a £50 million investment from the Renishaw Board. We will work with Renishaw to deliver 37,000 m2 of additional space, including two new production halls and an employee welfare facility complete with restaurant and gym. The new facilities will be built with the latest technologies and materials to ensure Net Zero production, helping Renishaw to meet their Net Zero targets. Our relationship with Renishaw spans over 25 years, and we’re delighted to work with them on these exciting projects which will aid the company’s future growth while benefitting the local economy.
