Dean Close, a co-educational boarding and day school set in parkland and Victorian buildings, required refurbishment of its maths and business blocks. Having seen our work at King’s College’s Dulverton Building, Dean Close appointed us to revive the space, blending historical features with modern classrooms.
We incorporated modern features alongside original flooring and wooden beams. Farrow and Ball paints in keeping with the school’s colour palette were used throughout, with different colours marking each distinct area. Glass doors create an open feel, allowing sunlight to fill the space. Inspirational artwork and quotes have been incorporated into teaching areas.
The completed refurbishment has provided pupils with a welcoming, inspiring space that combines modern and traditional features. There are a variety of classroom sizes, with one room featuring bleacher seating for larger groups. The space allows Dean Close to provide exemplary teaching and encourage its students to go through life with courage and confidence.
