We were appointed to bring together two well-established GP practices into a modern, purpose built group practice in the Cotswolds. The medical centre would form phase two of the Moreton-in-Marsh community health campus, in which we had also designed and delivered the North Cotswold Community Hospital two years earlier.
Working with the two GP practice leads and patient groups from the outset, we developed the brief and engaged in consultation. We worked with strict budgetary constraints to create a design that allowed for shared hub facilities with two dedicated practice wings. Our approach was similar for the North Cotswold Community Hospital in which we designed a central hub along with dedicated bedroom wings.
The hospital and medical centre are designed to align along a central access running through landscaped gardens and a car park.
The group practice comprises a two-storey central core, which leads to two linear wings containing the main practice consulting rooms. Within the central core, a reception and waiting area sits within a double-height atrium. Externally, the contemporary design features natural stone, render and copper clad facades.
