We reviewed and modified the masterplan for the whole site as part of a major feasibility study, before redeveloping the university campus and sports centre.
The challenge
The sports centre includes a new 12-court sports hall and is used for both university sports teaching and a valuable community and student resource. The refurbishment of the retained buildings provides sport science and sports treatment facilities, a 90-station fitness suite, climbing wall, gymnasium, and outdoor adventure facilities. Sustainable features have been included in the reuse of the existing buildings and the provision of biomass heating.
