Stroud High School appointed us to create a new sixth form centre which could be used for solo study or collaborative thinking. Previously, there had only been one small room for the sixth form, so a library was converted into the new study centre. The aim was to create a space that was not only inspiring for current sixth form students but felt aspirational for pupils in younger years.
We adopted the school’s traditional burgundy colour into our design, using it to create a modern feel. Natural elements were included throughout, connecting the space to its semi-rural setting.
The complete space includes collaborative areas, solo study areas, and spaces to socialise. It is the ideal space to support pupils in their studies while helping them feel ready for their next step, whether that be university or work. The space can also double up as an event space for larger presentations and evening events and has been well received by pupils and teachers.
